St. Augustine’s Day School Barrackpore Marks the 165th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore

With deep reverence and gratitude, the family of St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore, vibrantly celebrated the 165th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The campus came alive with a rich cultural programme paying tribute to a legacy that continues to illuminate minds and hearts across the globe.

A Harmonious Blend of Tradition & Creativity

The celebrations commenced with a respectful floral tribute to Gurudev’s portrait, paving the way for magnificent student performances:

    • 🎶 Eki Sundoro Shobhā: A graceful song-and-dance duet that captivated the audience with its sheer elegance.
    • 📖 Literary Tributes: A powerful recitation of "Nirjhorer Swapnabhanga" alongside a soulful flute rendition of "Esho He Boishakh".
    • 🎭 Theatrical Brilliance: A creative, humorous dramatic adaptation of Tagore’s famous poem "Juta Abishkar", followed by the deep, expressive dance drama "Ae Tabe Sahochori".

Empowering Voices: A Special Performance by 'Sampoorna'

A true highlight of the event was the touching participation of 30 students from Sampoorna—the evening school for underprivileged girls under our proud PTBA initiative. The girls completely mesmerized the audience with their graceful dance sequences and a moving English recitation of "Where the Mind is Without Fear", beautifully mirroring the universal equality that Tagore envisioned.

    Thoughts Ahead of His Time

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Suparna Sur for her highly inspiring guest address. Following her, Principal Ma’am beautifully detailed how Tagore’s progressive ideas on holistic education were well ahead of his era and remain deeply relevant today.

To ensure the spirit of the day reached every corner of our community, a special **online programme** was concurrently hosted for parents and students, sparking immense enthusiasm and involvement from families at home.
