Inter House Chess Competition – Checkmate Challenge Celebrated at St. Augustine's Day School, Barrackpore
Barrackpore, 20 July 2026 – St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore celebrated International Chess Day by organizing the Inter House Chess Competition – “Checkmate Challenge”, providing students with an excellent platform to showcase their strategic thinking, concentration, and problem-solving abilities.
The event brought together talented chess players from Primary (Class V) and Middle School (Classes VI–VIII), representing the four school houses—Tagore, Gandhi, Azad, and Netaji. Throughout the competition, participants demonstrated remarkable focus, patience, and tactical skills, making every match both competitive and inspiring.
Each game reflected the true essence of chess, where thoughtful planning, calculated moves, and resilience determined success. The event also encouraged students to uphold the values of discipline, fairness, and respect for their opponents, reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic education.
